I saw recently that Around 40 (2008) has been added, and it instantly triggered a wave of nostalgia! So I decided to make this Amami Yuki appreciation post. I remember how much I loved this show when I first watched it, and how much I admired her performance in it. Back then, I was too young to fully understand her and her friends' struggles in the show, but now that I’m around that age, I relate to the characters on such a deeper level, it hits completely differently.
I first watched her in Queen’s Classroom (2005) and that series completely changed how I saw things as a kid. Even back then, I remember thinking it should be mandatory viewing for all children/teens, it teaches you so much about life, kindness, and resilience in ways few shows ever do.
There are still some of her earlier shows I’ve always wanted to see but sadly never got subbed
I'm so excited to start rewatching her shows to refresh my memory, I have a feeling they’ll speak to me in new ways now.
